Ergo :: Wave-Gotik-Treffen: dark-romantic celebrations

21 years ago, two Gothic people from Leipzig had an unusual idea: They didn’t want to create yet another dark music festival but rather a supra-regional gathering of like-minded fellows for relaxed meeting, chatting and celebrating.

When in 1992 the 1st Wave-Gotik-Treffen took place in 1992 at the edge of Leipzig with about 2,000 visitors and just a handful of bands, it is unlikely that anyone imagined that within a few years the WGT would become the largest meeting of Gothic people in the world, taking possession of a whole city every year at Withsun. In 2012, the WGT takes place for the 21st time. From May 25th to 28th again more than 20,000 Gothics from all over the world are expected to come together again in Leipzig to celebrate the Wave-Gotik-Treffen as THE international gathering of the dark family.

All over the city there will be about 200 bands performing, projects and single artists covering the whole wide range of Gothic music: from Electro-Pop to Goth-Metal, from EBM to Neofolk, from medieval music to Industrial. The concerts and events take place at more than 30 venues spread throughout Leipzig, for instance in the vaults of the Moritzbastei, in the splendid neo-antique cupola hall of the Volkspalast, in the green round of the open-air Parkbühne, as well as in large concert halls. Traditionally, the crazy Gothic concerts are contrasted by including some beautiful classical music in the program as well. You can even visit Leipzig’s Opera House for some magic hours of opera performances and for an evening with the world-famous bel canto diva Montserrat Caballé.

From its beginning the Wave-Gotik-Treffen has been much more than a music festival: its guests may step back to the romantic atmosphere of ancient times at the medieval market place, the pagan village. We will have authors reading, unusual theatre and cinematic performances will take place as well as a big live action role play. One of Leipzig’s most beautiful cafes with an outstanding historical interior will be the daily setting of an opulent brunch meal accompanied by live chamber music. People in historic clothing will gather in the park for a Victorian Picnic. For four days a large hall on at the agra-Messepark will turn into the biggest Gothic-wares marketplace in the world. In countless clubs DJs from all over the world will invite you to dance until dawn. There will also be a large fetish party where entrance is only possible by following a strict voluptuous dress code. A stroll through the winding passages of city centre of Leipzig with its historical buildings of the Renaissance, Baroque and Jugendstil eras is especially worthwhile for art lovers: entrance to the huge fine arts museum with its important collection of painting, graphic art and sculpture is again free for WGT-guests.

Tomasz :: Aendlex - "Pre Rup Stairs" (Bunkier Productions)

Sometimes simple instruments and a bit of talent is enough to create something very climatic. This is exactly the case when speaking of Italian band called Aendlex.

“Pre Rup Stairs” is full of hypnotic guitar sounds and nostalgic vocals of Alex.
The material enclosed on the album oscillates somewhere between the acid folk and twisted acoustic achievements of Charles Manson, with a guest appearance of Division S vocalist. It is the fourth work of this one man band from Italy, although with a new and alternative approach to composing music: there is not as extensive usage of electronics - tracks were almost solely recorded just with a guitar and voice, to make everything more pure.

Limited edition. Hand numbered.
Released as oversized gatefold.
Professional print.

Tomasz :: First Human Ferro - "Homo Shargey"

Alexander Shargey (also known as Yuriy Kondratyuk) is a representative of passionate enthusiastic inventors who put their lives at stake to accomplish the mission for the future good of the whole mankind. Shargey belongs to a cohort of scientists who were the first to foresee the space conquering. They were great yet mocked-at dreamers and had to fight against all odds twice as hard. Shargey is a "recognized" space theoretic of unique unconventional genius. The name of a self-made engineer since decades has become well up to par with famous scientists like Tsiolkovskiy, Tsander, Korolyov.

Ukrainian FIRST HUMAN FERRO project led by Olegh Kolyada pays a long overdue tribute to its compatriot composing a well-crafted vintage dark ambient album with both poignant and mesmerizing layers of sidereal voyage. Homo Shargey was pre-mastered by Italian ambient magician Vestigial. The packaging consists of a luxurious A5-sized digipak with silver finish and gloss varmish, conceptually designed by Marcin £ojek at Ibsen Design. Only 500 copies made. This particular release is a cooperative effort of New Nihilism, fellow Requiem Productions and Triangle Records.

djHypnos :: Verlustprinzip - Lyrische Konstruktionen =free download=

The very beginning happened in a living-room in Leipzig as Andrés one-man project. After endless hours in which ideas and song-structures were created, again and again tweaking the songs, he finalised a decision: kindred spirits wanted to contribute to the completion. With Jens, bassist of a band named DER ZERFALL from Berlin, an analog instrument improved the sound of VERLUSTPRINZIP. As a result of the idea of not creating just a pure instrumental project, Timo, a charismatic lyricist, was won over and became enthusiastic about the music. First recordings were very promising, and together the band got to the heart of conceptions.
The first album, named “Lyrische Konstruktionen” (“lyrical constructions”), is a mixture of lyric, electronical music and experimental sounds. It will be released on November, 12th 2010 as a free download under Creative Commons License. Moreover a CDR version of a limited edition, that comes in a box with some digital imagine work.

djHypnos :: VA-Why be Blake when you can be Bleak? =free download=

"Why be Blake when you can be Bleak?" is a compilation featuring not only netlabel artists, but also contributions from renowned artists from the Industrial/Experimental genres, and plain legends from the early 80's Industrial scene.

The compilation strives to provide a "cause and effect" overview of Avantgarde art, especially from the viewpoint of Industrial/Experimental and Electronic music.
All artists have agreed to provide their tracks for free download, which is very uncommon these days, given the fact that non-mainstream artists probably suffer the most from illegal file sharing, and usually hesitate to give away albums for free.

djHypnos :: Massiv in Mensch - Niemand Weiss, Was Die Zukunft Bringt

After 2008's zany "Meanwhile, Back in the Jungle", Massiv in Mensch pull no punches on their sixth studio album, the aptly titled "Niemand weiss, was die Zukunft bringt" (Nobody Knows What the Future Will Bring). The album opens with an intro featuring the unmistakable voice of German actor Reiner Schoene (notable as the German voice-over voice of Darth Vader, as well as roles in Star Trek: The Next Generation, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, Babylon 5, and more). Schoene went into the recording studio especially for this release, so its a real treat for cult movie buffs. Also making an appearance is mind.in.a.box, adding a synthpop vibe and subtle harmonies to Massiv in Mensch's killer sound. The album features a cover of the cult techno hit Die Kybernauten (recently back in the spotlight on a re-issue on German label Infacted) as well as a guest appearance from Kontrast vocalist Nebelgeist. Massiv in Mensch deliver 14 tracks of techno-inspired dance music without ever missing a beat!
