I was waiting for this album for quite a while now, and was curious in what direction Psyclon Nine was heading after their more and more obvious metal influences.

Unfortunetely the first samples i heard were pretty awkard and the impression was bad but it got even worse when i actually got the album.
Why? Well some black metal influences are very obvious and they state Cradle of Filth as a major inspiration (altho COF is not a black metal band) but that's not what makes this album bad but it's lack of new ideas, simple and repetitive synths and the recycling of their religious lyrical themes.

To be honest, the synth lines on almost every song sound as if they were recorded in one day, using only one synth with the same preset over and over again.

I was talking about metal influences and indeed you can find some programmed double kicks and even some quite liniar guitar riffs on "Scar of the Deceiver" or “Crwn thy Furnicator”.

Compared to their previous releases the voice sounds even weaker and it is literally buried in the mix, while pads and choirs are omnipresent and overused.

It's very difficult to talk about a favorite song because they are all basically built on the same recipe, but i could say that the only song that actually got to me is "Better than suicide",maybe because it is a very simple but yet catchy(and effective)
song.

Overall this album seems that it was made in a hurry (label pressures?), is worse than their other lps and shows the band's indecision of remaining an
electro-industrial band or going black metal.

5.5/10
