Another dark industrial album got into my hands. Dead Man’s Hill is a project by Bart Piete, a Belgium artist.

This created in 1998 project was supposed to remind of The Moon Lay Hidden Beneath and the early In Slaughter Natives, but in a more aggressive version with a visible influence of black/death metal.

Now we deal with a solid dose of strong rhythms. It’s forty minutes of twisted material that tortures your ears.

Bart’s lyrics refer to the Voodoo cult (a death cult of Haitian origin). They draw our attention to the place of humanity in the world – the cancer that digests our planet.

The material isn’t something you’d call a bedtime music. It’s an organised set of sounds that makes your flesh creep. A plaintive, distorted, mad voice supported by strong drums. It reminds me of a soundtrack to some monumental horror film (recently every second record that I review sounds like a horror soundtrack, I start to worry about my sanity).

Those sounds and moans accompanied by choirs create an interesting mixture that bites into the soul of the listener.
